Betty Jean Weldon, 80, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 in a local hospital. She was born on June 19, 1945 to Charles and Sibyl (Amos) Peters and graduated high school while living in Hawaii. She went on to travel to Germany and was fluent in the German language. Betty was a member of Rye Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services are 11:30 AM, Friday, January 9, 2026 at Rye Hill Baptist Church with burial at 1:00 PM in the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The family will visit with friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, January 8th at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne of the home; a daughter, Kim Bishop and her husband Bob of Fayetteville, AR; two sons, James Harold Ross of Bentonville, AR and Jay Ross of Fort Smith, AR; a stepson, Hugh (Grav) Weldon of Little Rock, AR; a step daughter, Angie Weldon of Fort Smith, AR; six grandchildren, Charisma Holder, Jonathan Stepp, Magan Ross Vu, Parker Ross, Carley Ross and Hunter Anderson and 2 great grandchildren Madeline Anne Ross Vu and Madison Holder.

Pallbearers are James Harold Ross, Parker Ross, Bob Bishop, Josh Holder, Jonathan Stepp, and Jim Shepard.
