Wilfred F. “Tack” Hatwig, 85, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in Fort Smith. He was born in Ferda, Arkansas, on August 8, 1940, to Gesina “Forst” Hatwig and Joe Hatwig.

Wilfred attended Subiaco Academy as a young man and graduated from St. Anne’s Academy in 1958.

He worked as a city driver for the Teamsters Union and was a member of St Boniface Catholic Church. He was a proud member of United Commercial Travelers Local Council #86 since 1970, where he served as Secretary-Treasurer for nearly 50 years.

Wilfred’s love for his family and his devotion to raising and supporting his grandchildren from the moment Cole and Jordan entered this world till today are a testament to his love and influence on their lives. Those two loved and adored their Daddaw.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Hatwig, of the home; his son, Mark Hatwig, of Fayetteville, AR; his granddaughter, Jordan Stilley, and her husband, Roman, of Fort Smith; his brother, Gene Hatwig, of Fort Smith; and sister, Helen Reyburn, of Fairfield Bay, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeffrey Hatwig; his grandson, Cole Hatwig; his brothers, Leon and Raymond Hatwig; and his sister, Cecilia Gramlich, all of Fort Smith.

The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, November 25th, at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith, followed by the funeral Mass at 11:30 AM.

Cremation is under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR.
