Thelma Wray Jones, 95, of Fayetteville, AR, formerly of Fort Smith, AR, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025. She was born on September 30, 1930, to the late Alva W. Mitchael and Atha Corley Mitchael.

Thelma retired as Director of the Fort Smith Public Library after 31 years of dedicated service. She was the co-founder of the Fort Smith Historical Society and served on its board for several years. She was also a longtime member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School in the children’s department for many years. In addition, she was a member of Campers on Mission. After moving to Fayetteville in 2012, she became a member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by two husbands, Gene Wray and Russell Jones; three brothers, Corman, Corley, and A.W.; and two sisters, Irene and Volene. She is survived by her brother, Billy Mitchael; her daughter, Peggy Kramer (Donnie); her grandsons, Justin and Brandon Kramer (Kara); and three great-granddaughters, Annabelle, Camille, and Laney Kramer.

Public viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Steep Hill Cemetery.
