John Thomas Greer, III, 89, of Fort Smith, AR, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025. He was born on March 9, 1936, to John Thomas Greer, II and Angie Thomasson Greer of Ozark, AR. John retired from ABF Freight, where he was the Director of Public Relations and Advertising for 40 years. He was a U. S. Army Ranger Officer Veteran. He lived an exciting life in multiple States where he wrote for Red Skeleton in New York City and was never embarrassed to tell you he ran 10 marathons including the New York City marathon. He was an avid Pilot where he flew for the Civil Air Patrol, and for ABF, and flew from Arkansas to Alaska in a Piper Cub. He was rated as a Master Woodcarver by several Societies. He was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and was also a Minister of Music at numerous churches in the area.

He is survived by his wife Cindy, of the home for 55 years; two sons, Jay Greer with Lori Greer of Fort Smith, James McCord Greer and his wife Shanna, of Chalmers, IN and three grandchildren, Jack Greer (Jay and Lori), Brady Greer and Kylie Greer (James and wife Shanna).

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be 11:30 am Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Grand Avenue Baptist Church, with burial to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, with Military Honors.
