Teal Elizabeth Hickerson, 61, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. She was born on July 24, 1964 in Buffalo, NY to Ernest and Sandra (Bell) Thornell. Teal was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and she was a proud nurse who spent most of her nursing career helping the elderly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Hickerson, and a sister, Tina Wolfe.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Crockett and her husband Hunter of Maumelle, AR; a sister, Tammy Van de Bogart and her wife, Betina Rameil-Scott of Pensacola, FL, and two brothers, Ernie Thornell and his wife Holly of Custer, SD and Karl Thornell and his partner, Shawna Jamison, of Fort Smith, AR.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Single Parents’ Scholarship, 2102 Riverfront Dr. Ste. 102, Little Rock, AR 72202.
Cremation is under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
