Another Sam’s Club exec exits the company
Diana Marshall, chief experience officer for Sam’s Club, is leaving Walmart after a 20-year career with the retail giant. Marshall is the third executive vice president to exit since John Furner became Walmart CEO in February.
Latriece Watkins, CEO of Sam’s Club, announced in an email earlier this week that Marshall made the personal decision to leave. Talk Business & Politics obtained a copy of the correspondence.
Marshall is the second executive vice president to exit Sam’s Club in less than three weeks. Tom Ward announced his retirement as chief operating officer on May 22. Ward’s replacement, Steve Schrobilgen, was named on June 3.
“I have worked closely with Diana for many years and have always valued her candor, talent, and ability to get things done,” Watkins noted in the email.
Marshall has worked in her present role since January 2025. Before that, she was chief growth officer at Sam’s Club for two years. She spent 18 years at Walmart, starting as a replenishment trainee in early 2005. She worked in replenishment until 2012, when she moved into merchandising roles as a divisional manager. By 2014, Marshall was named vice president and divisional merchandising manager of infants and then sporting goods.

In 2019, Marshall became a senior vice president, leading merchandising strategy and developing talent for sporting goods, automotive, stationery, hardware/paint, outdoor living and live plants. The following year she was promoted to the executive vice president level. She also oversaw Walmart’s operations in the Southwestern U.S. division until she moved to Sam’s Club in 2025.
“Diana brought a unique combination of operational expertise, merchant instincts, strategic thinking, and member focus that helped us accelerate the business and position Sam’s Club for long-term growth,” Watkins noted. “Her leadership has helped us reimagine how we serve members and associates.”
