Dale Wadene Langwell

Dale Wadene Langwell, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. He was born on July 5, 1939, in Hackett, Arkansas to Melba (Byrd) Winters and Leo Langwell.

Dale was a fiercely competitive man with a deep love for the game of softball, playing the sport with passion for as long as his health allowed. Even after he could no longer take the field, his competitive spirit never faded. He continued to enjoy friendly games with family and friends—whether it was horseshoes, dominoes, or anything that brought people together for fun and connection.

On December 24, 1958, Dale married the love of his life, Ruth (Sweeten) Langwell. Together, they shared over 66 wonderful years of marriage, building a loving family that became the heart of Dales’s world. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them—his devotion knew no bounds.

Dale dedicated 40 years of hard work to Baldor and was a proud member of Rye Hill Baptist Church, where he found strength in his faith and community.

Dale is survived by his loving wife Ruth (Sweeten) Langwell; Two children, Dale Langwell and spouse Jolene, Mark Langwell and Spouse Angela; five grandchildren, Shawn Langwell and Spouse Kim, Shannon Langwell and spouse Cynthia, Loucinda Onofre and spouse Armando “Cain” Onofre, Trent Langwell, Cassi Langwell; five great-grandchildren, Mercy, Kevin, Evan, Owen, Serenity; and a Son-in-Law, Terry Hood.

He is preceded in passing by his parents Melba (Byrd) Winters and Leo Langwell; One daughter, Debbie Hood; one brother, Paul “Bud” Langwell; as well as a sister, “Sis” Winters.

There will be a visitation held from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Tuesday July 8, 2025 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, Located at 4817 Kelley Highway, Fort Smith, Arkansas. A graveside funeral service will follow at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Mt. View Cemetery in Hackett, Arkansas. All Arrangements are under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
