Southern Bancorp, Inc., announced Mike Myers, former Winrock Chief Financial Officer and longtime Southern Bancorp Board Director, as its interim Chief Financial Officer.

Myers recently retired from Winrock International after serving as CFO since 1997. Prior to that, he held senior financial management positions with two Fortune 200 companies. He has also served as a member of the Southern Bancorp holding company board since 2015.

“Mike Myers is a proven leader with a deep understanding of Southern Bancorp’s mission, and I can think of no better person to lead our financial team as we conduct a national search for our next CFO,” said Darrin Williams, Southern Bancorp, Inc. CEO.

Former Southern Bancorp CFO Chris Wewers recently announced his departure to Citizens Bank of Batesville.

Myers, a certified public accountant, holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Henderson State University, where he also served as Chair of the Board of Trustees.

“It’s an honor to help lead Southern Bancorp during this transition,” said Myers. “Having served as a board director for many years, I’m deeply committed to its mission and excited about its growth trajectory. I look forward to helping support a smooth transition to our next CFO.”

“We’re grateful for Chris’ years of service to our company and our mission,” said Williams. “Looking ahead, we are excited about identifying a strong pool of candidates eager to help grow our organization, our markets, and our mission of being wealth builders for everyone.”
