San Diego, Calif.-based robotics technology company Brain Corp recently opened a Bentonville office “to serve as its hub for enhancing engagement with key strategic accounts,” according to a news release.

Brain Corp has developed artificial intelligence (AI) software to power autonomous robots that complete tasks for retailers, such as product scanning and floor cleaning. The robots operate globally in public spaces, including Walmart and Sam’s Club stores. The company’s AI software powers over 35,000 autonomous robots, the largest global fleet of its kind.

The company’s new office at Ledger will “serve as a hub for fostering collaboration with partners, customers and talent in the region,” according to the release. Matt Schilb, senior director of strategic accounts, will lead the new office, which will initially have 10 employees.

“We are thrilled to further build upon our presence in Bentonville, a city known as a hub for retail and supply chain innovation,” CEO David Pinn said. “This expansion allows us to collaborate more closely with the most innovative companies and thinkers, helping us push the boundaries of what’s possible in autonomous technology.”

In a recent interview, Pinn highlighted the importance of having its employees near customers to better understand their needs and serve them.

“We want to continue to grow our footprint in Arkansas as our company grows,” he said. “The main goal is to provide end customers with great service and support.”

Pinn said the company is unique because of its attention to detail about how robots are implemented in environments.

The company is focused on “automating commercial environments that tend to be less predictable,” he said. “Where we found a ton of success is in automating floor care operations in retail stores. That was our first product that we launched about eight years ago.”

Brain Corp has since developed technology to automate other tasks, such as product scanning for retailers to ensure “the right product is on the right shelf at the right price,” Pinn said.

Brain Corp has more than 220 employees in 17 states and 10 countries, including the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia. It also has an Amsterdam office.
