District 30 State Rep. Fran Cavenaugh, R-Walnut Ridge, will seek a fourth term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. The district includes portions of Craighead, Greene, and Lawrence Counties.

“Working alongside Gov. Sanders, we have continued to lower taxes, remove government bureaucracy, and set in place programs that will improve educational outcomes for all Arkansas students,” said Cavenaugh. “If re-elected, I will continue to focus on implementing conservative principles that will move our state forward.”

This past legislative session, Cavenaugh was the lead sponsor of the Vincent Parks Law, which now requires police academy instructors to be properly trained on how to notice and respond to health conditions of their cadets. This law, named after officer Vincent Parks who tragically passed away during his officer training, will ensure that instructors are certified to respond to events such as cardiac arrest, heat exhaustion, dehydration, and concussions.

Cavenaugh has advocated for the state to take a more serious approach to addressing mental health issues.

“The entire country is in the middle of a mental health crisis,” said Cavenaugh. “You can see it in our crime reports and suicide rates. You witness it in our school counselor offices, within veteran groups, and in our homeless shelters. It’s on us to address this important issue, and I’m a firm believer that getting folks the help they need and deserve early on is not only good for them, but it also saves taxpayer dollars in the long run.”

Cavenaugh is the CFO of the Cavenaugh Auto Group.
