Gov. Sarah Sanders’ director of boards and commissions, Alex Flemister, announced he is leaving the office later this month.

A Little Rock native, Flemister said he is exiting the governor’s office to launch a new venture, The Flemister Group (TFG). The firm will focus on private ventures and real estate. A part of TFG will be incorporating the relaunch of AF Strategies, a consulting firm with an emphasis on out-of-state and federal services.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime serving on Governor Sanders senior team. I will always be thankful that the Governor asked me to come back home after my time at the White House. From the campaign, to transition, and now in the Governor’s office – I have witnessed firsthand the Governor’s care and passion for the state of Arkansas,” Flemister said. “After almost three years with Team Sanders, I look forward to serving our Governor in new ways. There is no better Governor in our country and I am thankful to both her and the First Gentleman for their trust and friendship.”

Before joining the Sanders’ administration, Flemister served on the Governor’s senior team in transition and on the campaign. He also served over three years at the White House under President Donald Trump.

“Alex was one of the Day One staffers on my campaign and has been a highly effective member of my administration since my first day in office. I know he has a great future ahead of him and we are all excited to see what the next chapter brings,” Sanders said.

Flemister was elected treasurer last April for the Arkansas State Police Foundation. He also serves on the Independence Fund, which works with wounded veterans; the board of advisors for Policy Veterans, a think tank for veterans’ policies; and the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Pulaski and Perry counties.

He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in finance and economics.
