Conn’s taps Walmart exec Chandra Holt as next CEO

Chandra Holt, seen as a rising star at Walmart since 2015, is leaving the retail giant to take over as the next CEO and president of Conn’s beginning Aug. 9. She will succeed Norm Miller who is transitioning to executive chairman.

Holt will also hold a board seat bringing the number to nine directors.

Conn’s is an American furniture, mattress, electronics and appliance store chain headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas outside of Houston. The company reported 2020 fiscal revenue of $1.386 billion.

Holt was promoted to chief merchandising officer of Walmart.com in early 2020 and was made an executive vice president reporting to Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner. Prior to that she spent nearly five years at Sam’s Club overseeing private brands, grocery and rising to chief operating officer at by 2019. She also spent two years at Walgreens and 10 years at Target where she oversaw beverages and wellness.

Much of Holt’s experience has been in food. In her new role she will work with Miller to help grow Conn’s customer base.
