Christina McLarty-Arquette joins Arkansas Cinema Society board

The Arkansas Cinema Society has added Christina McLarty-Arquette to its board.

McLarty-Arquette, whose family is originally from Hope, is an Emmy award-winning journalist and film producer who brings her industry insight and business acumen to ACS and the filmmakers and film enthusiasts of Arkansas.

Arquette’s producing work includes 12 Hour Shift (2020) recently acquired by Magnolia’s Magnet Releasing, Survivors Guide To Prison (2018), and most recently the critically acclaimed You Cannot Kill David Arquette (2020). The documentary film, about her husband Actor/Producer/Director David Arquette’s return to professional wrestling, won SXSW’s Adobe Editing Award and was an official selection of the 2020 festival. Neon’s Super LTD acquired the film for a theatrical release later this year.

McLarty-Arquette is currently in production on the Arkansas-based thriller Ghosts of The Ozarks, which stars Tim Blake Nelson and David Arquette and will be directed by Jordan Wayne Long and Matt Glass of HCT Media.

“It’s been a real joy to give back to Arkansas through filmmaking, and it all began when I screened Survivors Guide to Prison with The Arkansas Cinema Society,” she said. “We’re thrilled the governor, along with film commissioner Christopher Crane, and The Arkansas Health Department approved our second production. We aim to keep artists employed during this time and create a safe environment for cast and crew.

McLarty-Arquette is also a lead investor in XTR, a production company focused on non-fiction and documentary films, founded by Oscar-nominated producer Bryn Mooser. This year, XTR co-financed four documentaries that premiered at Sundance in 2020 and recently announced that the company is set to produce a feature film documentary on Los Angeles basketball icon Magic Johnson. The documentary will feature candid interviews with the superstar athlete along with never-before-seen footage from his legendary career.

Formerly a local news reporter for KATV in Little Rock, McLarty-Arquette attended NYU Journalism School where she graduated with high honors. She is currently on track to receive a Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling from Northwestern University with a focus on providing services to the prison population.
