Danfoss announced plans to close its Arkadelphia manufacturing facility on Tuesday (Jan. 21) impacting 170 employees. The plant, which makes small capacity scroll compressors, condensing units and assembles high-pressure pumps, expects to close by the end of 2020.

A company news release said that “decreasing market demand” was primarily to blame for the closure.

“Globally, we have seen declining demand for small capacity scroll compressors,” said Noel Ryan, president of Danfoss Commercial Compressors.

“We are working with our employees to provide the best possible outplacement support. The decision is in no way a reflection of the efforts and commitment of our valued Arkadelphia workforce. Quite the contrary, our employees have demonstrated a tremendous work ethic and high performance. Instead, the decision is based on the need to optimize the business to meet current market conditions,” Ryan added.

Privately-held Danfoss has a worldwide workforce of 25,000 employees and serves customers in more than 100 countries.
