University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Symphonic Band

The UA Fort Smith Symphonic Band has grown into one of the most dynamic groups in the region. Under the direction of Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, the band performs a variety of wind ensemble literature spanning from the 19^th to the 21^st century.  The October 25, 2010, Season of Entertainment Concert will be no exception. From the sounds of regal hymns to the flourishes of wind band music, the symphonic band will perform works by Clifton Williams, William Schuman and Vincent Persichetti. The Symphonic Band will also be joined by guest trombonist, David Jackson, Professor of Trombone at the University of Michigan.  Mr. Jackson will perform works by Alfred Reed and Arthur Pryor, the famed trombonist in John Phillip Sousa’s band.  The evening is sure to be memorable musical journey.
