Sam’s Club partners with Instacart
Sam’s Club members in Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and St Louis now have the option to get same-day delivery for online orders through a partnership with Instacart.
The retailer announced the service Tuesday (Feb. 27) and said some of the deliveries could be within 60 minutes. The delivery service is not free. Instacart offers monthly ($14.99) and annual memberships ($99 first year) that lower the delivery cost.
Sam’s Club went a step further to try and win some customers from Costco and Amazon by allowing non-members to try the service as well, but noted non-members won’t get the same lower member pricing. Members enter their membership number to activate the lower prices before checkout.
It was an easy decision to include non-members, said Sam’s Club spokeswoman Carrie McKnight, because that’s already allowed in its warehouse stores. Non-member shoppers are charged 10% more at the checkout.
Instacart said partnering with Sam’s Club gives access to value and respected brands while helping to reach new customers. The partners expect to expand the service to more cities later this year.
