Sparks ranks second on care measures
Sparks Regional Medical System is ranked second in “Appropriate Care Measures” during the fourth quarter of 2009 in Arkansas among 45 hospitals.
The Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) recently released the report that measures hospital performance on Medicare quality measures related to heart failure (HF), pneumonia (PN), acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP). ACMs reflect the percentage of patients who received all the recognized components of care for a specific condition.
Reporting hospital data is intended to equip consumers with quality care information to make more informed decisions about their health care, according to a Sparks statement, The data also is used to encourage hospitals and clinicians to improve the quality of inpatient care provided to all patients.
“We are pleased to have improved our quality of care measures and will continue to strive for even greater improvement in the care of our patients,” Sparks CEO Melody Trimble said in the statement.
