A multimillion-dollar hangar development comprising nearly 55,000 square feet was recently completed at Bentonville Municipal Airport at Thaden Field. The Neighborhood One development has six hangars.

It was built by six private owners, including Paul Cantrell, in coordination with the city of Bentonville.

According to a news release, the project represents the first major west-side expansion at the airport since the Louise Thaden Fieldhouse opened in 2018 and helps address growing demand for aircraft storage and aviation services in Northwest Arkansas.

The six owners said they will provide three scholarships totaling $30,000 to support aviation workforce development. In partnership with the Tailwind Aviation Foundation, the group will fund a $15,000 scholarship for a pilot pursuing airline transport pilot certification. They are also partnering with Bentonville Schools’ Ignite Professional Studies and aviation educator Will Gunselman to provide two $7,500 scholarships for students pursuing airframe and powerplant certification.

“This project helps address a longstanding need for additional hangar capacity at Thaden Field while supporting the continued growth of aviation in Northwest Arkansas,” said Brian Baldwin, chairman of the Bentonville Airport Advisory Board. “It’s especially encouraging to see the owners pair this investment in airport infrastructure with scholarships that will help develop the next generation of aviation professionals.”
