Springdale-based cancer-care provider Highlands Oncology recently broke ground on a five-story, 125,000-square-foot cancer-care center along Interstate 49 in the Pinnacle Hills area of Rogers.

The Rogers Cancer Center at 4872 S. Bellview Road is slated to open in the third quarter of 2028. The new center, located at the intersection of Bellview Road and J.B. Hunt Drive, will be the company’s seventh location in Arkansas and is expected to support growth in the region.

“This groundbreaking represents much more than a building project,” CEO Jeff Hunnicutt said. “It reflects Highlands Oncology’s long-standing commitment to ensuring patients in Northwest Arkansas and the surrounding region have access to world-class cancer care close to home. We are honored to continue investing in the future health of our community.”

Over the past seven years, Highlands Oncology has more than doubled in size, increasing its physician headcount from 16 to more than 30, expanding clinical trials from approximately 70 to nearly 150, and adding more than 150,000 square feet across its cancer centers.

In August 2023, Highlands Oncology paid $13.6 million for about 51 acres along I-49 in Rogers for the new center. The five-floor center will resemble Highlands Oncology’s flagship center in Springdale. It will also include a rooftop terrace with green space. The number of staff and investment amount have yet to be determined.

“As we break ground on the new Rogers Cancer Center, we are building more than a facility,” medical oncologist Dr. Eric Schaefer said. “We are building hope, advancing innovation and leading the way forward for generations to come.”

Founded in 1996, Highlands Oncology is an independent, physician-owned cancer center that provides comprehensive oncology services, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, clinical research, imaging, infusion services, rehabilitation, pharmacy and supportive care programs.
