Chicago-based food company Conagra Brands said Friday (March 6) that it will invest about $220 million to expand its chicken production capacity at its Fayetteville plant. The investment is expected to create more than 100 new jobs over the next five years.
Conagra has plants throughout North America, including two in Arkansas. The company also has a plant in Russellville. It has about 2,000 employees in the state.
“This significant investment in our Fayetteville facility will allow us to continue to grow our leading frozen foods business,” said Craig Weiss, senior vice president, supply chain, Conagra Brands. “Conagra is committed to investing in innovation across the company, including our supply chain. We are also pleased to continue growing in Fayetteville, where Conagra has a long history.”
Construction on the expansion is expected to start later this year. The expansion will “significantly increase its chicken production capacity,” according to a news release.
“Northwest Arkansas continues to set the pace for growth and innovation in America’s heartland,” said Gov. Sarah Sanders. “Conagra’s investment in Fayetteville builds on decades of partnership and strengthens the region as a hub for food innovation and manufacturing excellence. When companies expand in Arkansas, it’s because they trust our skilled workforce, our business climate, and our commitment to long-term success.”
The Fayetteville plant produces ready-to-eat meals for multiple brand labels, including Hungry-Man, Banquet, Healthy Choice, Gardein, and evol. The plant produces about 15 million cases of product annually.
“A $220 million expansion sends a strong signal about Fayetteville’s future,” said Fayetteville Mayor Molly Rawn. “This project strengthens our city’s manufacturing base, creates high-quality jobs and reinforces our position as a regional economic leader. We are grateful for the partnership with Conagra and AEDC (Arkansas Economic Development Commission) and are excited to see this next chapter unfold.”
Conagra’s brands include Birds Eye, Duncan Hines, Healthy Choice, Marie Callender’s, Reddi-wip, Slim Jim, and Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP. The company has about 18,300 employees. Company revenue in 2025 was $11.612 billion, below $12.05 billion in 2024. Net income in 2025 was $1.152 billion, better than $347.2 million in 2024.
