Bonnie L. Sklander passed away on Saturday, June 14th, 2025.
Bonnie was born May 11, 1943 in Wausau, Wisconsin to the late Floyd and Lorraine (Babcock) Morrill. Bonnie was the eldest of two children, the family resided in Mosinee, Wisconsin.
After graduating from Mosinee High School, class of 1961, Bonnie moved to Milwaukee and began a secretarial career. There she met and fell in love with (the late) John R. Sklander. During their 53 years of marriage John and Bonnie had three children.
Bonnie was a humble servant of the Lord and loved Him with all her heart. She had an artistic talent that she used to most famously paint Jesus and the 12 Apostles. Over the years, her art had been on the Christian Broadcasting Network, displayed at the Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, AR, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, IL, and St. John Evangelical Lutheran church in Schaumburg, IL. Early on, Bonnie and her aunt, Yvonne Vesley, took the paintings on tour and put on plays at various churches in Wisconsin. The paintings are currently hanging in the Belle Museum and Chapel in Charleston, AR. Bonnie has also painted the Virgin Mary, Michael the Archangel, the Apostle Paul (Saul), Jesus and family members. Bonnie also painted a large mural of The Last Supper in a church in Illinois.
Bonnie was also a gifted writer, writing short stories for family members and a full-length novel originally titled “Never a Dull Day.”
Bonnie loved to help others. One of the best times in her retirement was being a volunteer at a local hospital in Hoffman Estates, IL. Her jokes and one-liners made her a favorite among the patients she would ferry around, and in and out of the hospital.
Bonnie is survived by her three children: John F. Sklander, Kim L. (Chris) Chereck, and Valerie (Larry Knight) Biamonte. Bonnie is also survived by grandson Quentin Carrere, grandson Derrick White, her dear brother Gary Morrill, her beloved aunt Yvonne Vesley, nephews Gary (Bobbi) Morrill and Jim (Terry) Morrill and their wonderful, extended families, granddaughter Shanon (Jason) Schuler, great-grandson Cooper Schuler, grandsons G.W. Darby and Shaun Darby. Bonnie is also survived by many cousins.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Sklander, daughter-in-law Carol Sklander, sister-in-law Barbara Morrill, son-in-law Joseph Biamonte, uncle Rudy Vesley, both parents: Floyd and Lorraine Morrill, and many aunts and uncles dear to her.
Bonnie’s final resting place will be next to her husband in Mosinee, Wisconsin, at the Green Valley Cemetery, alongside Grace Lutheran Church.
