Ann Marie Smith (née Delaloye), born December 21, 1932, in Belleville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Ann lived a long and full life of 92 years, marked by devotion to family, faith, and the simple joys that brought her happiness. Born to August and Gladys Delaloye, Ann was one of several siblings in a close-knit family. Ann attended St. Boniface Catholic School, as well as St. Scholastica. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Jack H. “Mr. Jack” Smith; her brothers Charles Delaloye, Jack Delaloye, August Delaloye, Joe Delaloye; and her sister Mary Delaloye.
Ann is lovingly remembered by her children: daughter Susan Fiori and husband Sam Fiori; son John Smith and his wife Denise Smith; daughter Sara Trisler and her husband Sam Trisler. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Sammy Fiori and his wife Dr. Rachel Fiori; Anna Dobbs and her husband David Dobbs; Jordan Smith; Caitlin Bobel and her husband Andrew Bobel; Emma Trisler; and Sam Henry Trisler.
Ann was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years: Virgil Fiori, Jack Smith, Emiliee Smith, Olivia Dobbs, Josephine Fiori, Frances Dobbs, Clair Smith, August and Lottie Bobel.
She is survived by her sister Martha Pike and brother Patrick Delaloye. Her extended family includes many nieces and nephews whose lives were touched by Ann’s warmth and presence—far too many to count but each held dear.
Throughout her life, Ann found joy in the everyday moments that made up a rich tapestry of experiences. She loved playing dominoes with friends and family—a pastime that often sparked laughter-filled gatherings. Her green thumb was evident in the gardens she tended with care, cultivating beauty wherever she lived. A lifelong reader, Ann found comfort in books that fed both mind and spirit. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her life; attending Mass was not just a ritual but a source of strength and community.
Ann’s life was defined not only by the roles she held—as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother—but also by the quiet grace with which she lived each day. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew them.
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart”
May their memory bring comfort to those who knew them.
