Pat Hardy McGowan

Pat Hardy McGowan was born February 27, 1943, in Dublin, Georgia to Martha (Hardy) McGowan and James McGowan. He passed from this life January 12, 2025.

Pat was in the process of slowing down his business affairs and very much looking forward to moving to Florida with the love of his life of 67 years, Charlotte Cecille McGowan. They lived in Florida for many years and loved that time but eventually returned to Fort Smith. Pat renewed his business of developing multi-family housing, mainly in Fort Smith and Oklahoma.

Pat is survived by Cille; a daughter, Amy McGowan; a brother, Larry McGowan; and a special first cousin, Leigh Donoho Merry (Philip).

Pat enjoyed jogging, walking, and eating a good steak. His real enjoyment was helping others with addiction. He gave away what had gracefully been given to him. He was a leader in the recovery community.

Pat’s Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 20, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
