Toledo, Ohio-based Owens Corning on Wednesday (Dec. 6) broke ground on a 150,000-square-foot plant in Russellville that is expected to add 50 jobs. The plant will produce the company’s insulation products.

Announced in February 2023, this is the company’s first facility in Russellville, and the company’s third expansion in two years in Arkansas. Owens Corning has operated in Fort Smith, Ark., since 1985 and expanded the facility twice since 2021.

“Expanding Owens Corning’s Foamular NGX insulation production with this new facility will advance our ability to create sustainable solutions in the building materials industry and better serve the growing needs of our customers,” Rodney Wideman, vice president and general manager of Foam Insulation at Owens Corning, said in a statement. “We are proud to be a part of the Russellville community and look forward to growing together.”

The plant is estimated to cost $60 million and should be operational in two years.

“It’s an honor to join leaders from Owens Corning and the community of Russellville as the company breaks ground on their new 150,000-square-foot facility,” said Clint O’Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. “We are grateful for Owens Corning’s ongoing commitment to the Natural State, and we look forward to their continued success for years to come.”

In February 2021 the company began to build a new 550,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Fort Smith, adjacent to its existing plant on Planters Road. The estimated $115 million project is expected to add five jobs with an approximate annual salary of $85,000 per year.
