Fort Smith Public Schools has named Dr. Christopher Davis the new assistant superintendent of human resources and campus support. Davis will fill the vacancy left when Sherri Penix, the assistant superintendent for human resources and campus support, retires July 31.

Davis has served as the district’s supervisor of human resources since 2019. With his new assignment, he will oversee all aspects of human resources for the district including athletics and activities functions, an FSPS news release said.

“I am excited to transition into this role within the district and look forward to continuing to serve and provide support to our educators and staff as we begin a new school year,” Davis said.

Prior to his role as supervisor of human resources, Davis served as an assistant principal at Northside High School within Fort Smith Public Schools, middle school principal and high school assistant principal in Huntsville and band director and music educator in Mountain Home.

“Dr. Davis is an exceptional leader and we are confident in his abilities to lead and serve the 2,000 plus employees working within the district,” said Dr. Terry Morawski, FSPS superintendent.
