AARP Arkansas will host two online workshops to provide information to individuals looking to retire.

The first interactive workshop focuses on Social Security and will be from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1. The second workshop focuses on Medicare and will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8.

The events are free of charge and they will be archived for non-live viewing.

Presenters will answer questions on how long they have to work to be eligible for Social Security, when they can apply, what happens if they apply early, what happens if they wait to apply, how much they’ll receive and more.

Regarding Medicare, the workshop will help people nearing retirement sign up for Medicare, the different parts of Medicare, what medical services are covered and not covered under Medicare, deductibles and co-pays. There will also be presentations on traditional Medicare versus Medicare Advantage.

These educational sessions are meant to give soon-to-be retirees and individuals considering retirement, the information they need to make educated decisions about Social Security benefits and Medicare in retirement. Presenters will include representatives from Social Security Administration and the Arkansas Insurance Department.

A separate registration is required for both sessions. For more information and to register go to www.aarp.cvent.com/VirtualAR2021.
