North Little Rock Wastewater, Scenic Hill Solar partner

North Little Rock Wastewater Utility and Scenic Hill Solar are partnering to build an 850 kW DC solar power plant to provide renewable energy for the utility.
This new solar power plant will deliver around 20% of the North Little Rock utility’s total electricity consumption.
The project will begin construction after all governmental approvals are received and is slated for completion and generation of solar electricity in late 2020.
The 850 KW solar power plant will:
- Produce over 1,400,000 kWh of electricity in the first year of operation and over 40,000,000 kWh of electricity over the next 30 years;
- Produce enough clean electricity to satisfy 20% of the utility’s electricity consumption;
- Contain over 2,000 solar modules; and
- Reduce carbon emissions by over 28,000 metric tons (the equivalent of powering over 4,800 homes with electricity for one year).
“We continuously look for ways to save our ratepayers money and improve our environmental stewardship. This project accomplishes both those missions as well as boosting local economic development. We are excited to push this project forward on behalf of our ratepayers,” said Buck Mathews, Chairman of the North Little Rock Wastewater Utility said.
