Longtime Murphy Oil Corp. Director Thomas Gattle, Jr. announced at the El Dorado oil and gas company’s annual meeting on Thursday (Aug. 22), that he was stepping down, effectively immediately.

Gattle, who joined the Murphy board in June 2013, served as a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee and Audit Committee on the company’s 13-person board of directors, which is currently chaired by former Murphy Oil President and CEO Claiborne Deming.

Before joining the Murphy board of directors, Gattle formerly served as chairman, president and CEO of Terral RiverService Inc., a privately-held company that operates fertilizer product terminals, boats and barges on the lower Mississippi River and its connected inland waterways.

Nearly three weeks ago, the El Dorado-based oil and gas company reported second quarter profits of $92 million, or 54 cents per share, up 102% from $45.5 million, or 27 cents per share, in the same period of 2018
