Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado was named the No. 1 golf course to play in Arkansas by Golfweek in the magazine’s “2019 Best Courses You Can Play in Each State” list.

Mystic Creek Golf Club opened in May of 2013. “With cathedral pines similar to Augusta, high flashing bunkers styles similar to A.W Tillinghast, and domed greens with runoffs similar to Pinehurst #2,” the 18-hole course was designed by Kenneth Dye Jr., the course’s website states.

Just after opening, the semi-private course was named one of the “Best New Courses” by Golf Digest.

A new clubhouse will open at Mystic Creek in 2020 adding high-quality food, beverage and function options for a multitude of events. The facility hosts the Symetra Tour’s Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout as well as the Duck Commander’s NCAA Intercollegiate Championship.

When it came to choosing the No. 1 courses in each state, Golfweek looked at the ease and intimacy of how the sequence of holes followed natural contours; the variety and memorability of par 3, 4 and 5 holes; the basic quality of conditioning of the course and the “walk in the park test,” which looks at just how worth it is to spend a half-day on the course, the press release said.

“It’s a great little fun golf course for everyone to play,” said David Cage, Mystic Creek general manager. “It’s well manicured with great putting greens and a terrific practice area.

The course is open Tuesday through Sunday.
