Open enrollment in Arkansas’ state-based health insurance exchange begins November 1.

Created through the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, the Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace enables individuals without access to employer health coverage to purchase insurance online. It can be accessed at myARinsurance.com and uses the healthcare.gov federal platform.

The enrollment period continues through Dec. 15.

“Now is the time for those who have no insurance or those who need to renew their coverage to explore their options for 2019,” said Angela Lowther, AHIM executive director, in a press release.

“The place to start is myARinsurance.com. We have trained and licensed professionals throughout Arkansas who can help enrollees through the process of selecting the health insurance options that are right for them,” she said.

AHIM was established in 2013. It is governed by a board of directors appointed by the governor, Senate president pro tempore of the Senate and the speaker of the House.
