Acxiom Corp. said it is considering the sale of its downtown Little Rock headquarter, a 12-story, curved office tower in the city’s River Market district that was built in 2003.

When plans for the building were announced in February 1999, the Little Rock building was one of two new offices in Central Arkansas that the company was considering to accommodate its rapid growth that had spiked to 1,200 workers at the time.

According to the company’s most recent 10K securities filing, Acxiom now has a total of 3,475 employees worldwide following the sell-off of its core IT outsourcing business a year ago. The Little Rock-based data provider said it is considering a number of options that will best fit the needs of the company’s mobile, tech-savvy workforce.

“We review the workspace needs of associates in our locations across the globe as part of the normal course of business, and we’re currently exploring options in Little Rock,” the company said in a statement. “Our workforce population has changed since we built the facility in 2003; our associates have become more mobile, for example, so we need fewer ‘dedicated’ workspaces and more ‘as-needed’ workspaces, conference rooms, and collaboration zones.

“We’re considering all options (with the sale of the building being only one of the options) as we pursue an arrangement that offers us the right amount of space, and best configuration of that space, for our workforce needs. While we are exploring possibilities, no decisions have been made.”

Some of Acxiom’s former employees that worked in the downtown office are now part of Ensono, the data technology management division of the Little Rock publicly-traded company that sold for $190 million to private equity firms Capital Partners and M/C Partners in August 2015. Ensono has over 700 employees, including at least 100 that work at the company’s Conway data center.

No longer in the IT outsourcing business, Acxiom still has offices in eight locations in the United States, SEC filings show. Besides its varied locations in Conway and Little Rock, Acxiom also has employees in San Francisco and Redwood City, Calif., Downers Grove, Ill., Nashville, Tenn., Austin, Texas, and New York City.

The Arkansas-based data analytics firm also has various locations and office space in Europe, Australia and China.
