USA Truck Inc. of Van Buren on Wednesday named John R. “Randy” Rogers its new president and CEO.

Rogers, 53, was previously president of Energy and Chemicals Americas for DHL Supply Chain (formerly Exel Logistics). His hiring is effective Jan. 14. Rogers’ base salary, according to an SEC filing, is $425,000.

“Randy is a highly accomplished transportation and logistics executive with an impressive t rack record in one of the world’s top logistics companies,” USA Truck chairman Robert A. Peiser said in a statement.

Rogers takes over for interim leader Thomas Glaser, who filled the role of chief operating officer on an interim basis after former CEO John Simone took a medical leave of absence in April. The following month, the company issued a statement revealing that Simone was being treated for cancer. He resigned in July.

Glaser will remain on the USA Truck board of directors as vice chairman.
