Diane Scott started working at Northwest Arkansas Mall as a receptionist in 2001.

The Fayetteville native climbed the ladder over the next 15 years, eventually managing marketing and overseeing operations of the 820,000-SF mall. All the while, she learned commercial real estate and developed a passion for it.

She enjoys helping someone start a retail business and being able to find a place for them.

She started working for Mathias Properties in February. “They approached me in January,” she said. “They are a well-known company.”

As commercial leasing agent, she most enjoys meeting new people, and helping someone find the best location. “We show property throughout our portfolio and beyond,” she said. “We take in what our prospects are looking for.”

She feels as if she’s living out the highlights of her career, serving as a board member on the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, becoming a certified shopping center manager and earning a real estate license.

“It’s like the highlight’s happening now,” she said. “I’m extremely happy where I’m at.”

She gives credit to her family and co-workers for her success. Her family was there for her when she worked overtime hours. Co-workers guided her and encouraged her to complete college.

In 2008, she graduated from John Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in organizational management.

She’s worked with numerous nonprofit organizations, including helping collect shoes for orphans, supporting the Samaritan Community Center and participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

She also co-founded Uptown Fayetteville Association, which has worked to promote the city’s uptown district.

She enjoys camping, cycling, boating and shopping.
