A Fayetteville hospital that focuses on rehabilitative care marked a milestone recently with a ceremony celebrating the completion of a 9,250-SF expansion project.

HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 4 at 153 E. Monte Painter Drive to celebrate the completion of the project, adding 20 new private patient rooms to its existing 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

Patients began occupying the rooms in early October.

In addition to the new rooms, a new patient day room was also added, as well as expansions of the dining room and parking lot.

With the additions complete, HealthSouth Fayetteville CEO Jack Mitchell said the existing hospital will undergo a “refresh” project, scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2016.

HealthSouth serves patients who are recovering from debilitating illnesses or injuries including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, hip fracture and complex orthopedic conditions.

Publicly traded HealthSouth Corp., based in Birmingham, Alabama, is the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, with a network of 33 hospitals across the country and in Puerto Rico.

Locally, HealthSouth is a partner with Washington Regional Medical Center.
