The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, a nonprofit that works to alleviate hunger in the area, has hired longtime newspaper advertising and marketing executive Kent Eikenberry as its new president and CEO.

Eikenberry will replace Marge Wolf, who is retiring at the end of the year after serving the organization since 2008. He has spent the last 30 years in the newspaper business in Northwest Arkansas, most recently as the advertising manager of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

“We are excited to have a leader like Kent step in to lead the Food Bank as we continue our mission to nourish NWA communities by feeding the hungry with our agency partners,” NWA Food Bank chairman Mike Gilbert said in a statement.

Eikenberry has served on several boards locally including the Mercy Hospital Foundation and the NWA Food Bank.

The NWA Food Bank was founded in 1988 and serves more than 85,000 residents in Benton, Washington, Carroll and Madison counties.

Under Wolf’s leadership, distribution of food to the hungry increased from 3.1 million pounds to more than 8 million pounds annually.
