Doughertys Medical Inventions Are on the Market in Europe, on the Way in US

That Dr. Chris Dougherty is something else. The orthopedic surgeon at Northwest Health System in Bentonville is the first physician in Arkansas using the second-generation NovoStitch® Plus meniscal repair system.

He’s also an inventor, with two patents pending and at least two others already issued. One of his creations, the Clavicle Nail, is available commercially in Europe, while his anchors and ablators are under consideration for purchase by three U.S. implant companies. He also has low-cost cannulas and shavers for sale to orthopedic companies through his Tenjin LLC.

On the academic front, Dougherty is no less impressive. His bibliography of publications includes over 30 credits, he has made presentations at conferences and seminars across the country, and he is involved in relevant clinical research.

As a part of the Kansas City Royals organization, he had tickets and was able to attend game one of the World Series, the 14-inning classic won by eventual champs KC.

Despite the lengthy resume and the spotless credentials, what stands out most about Dougherty is his sincerity. He’ll look you in the eye, give a firm handshake, and when he speaks, it’s evident he’s genuine.
