Two self-described “serial entrepreneurs and longtime nerds” are starting a new Battle Bots league in Arkansas.

Brad Harvey, founder of Nerdies and co-founder of Blur State, both located in Fayetteville Arkansas, and Scott Davis, senior manager and senior software engineer for telecommunications company Windstream Communications, are launching the project.

The new league will bring teams from across the state to ultimately compete in a statewide championship in the early spring of 2016.

“Scott and I were talking one day about how great it would be to compete in the Battle Bots competition recently revived by ABC”, Harvey said. “So as we talked, it became clear Arkansas needed its own league and before we knew it Robot wARs of Arkansas was formed.”

Robot wARs of Arkansas will bring teams from across the state to ultimately compete in the inaugural Arkansas championship. The founders said they are looking for all types of teams to join the mix and they already have teams formed in Northwest Arkansas and Little Rock. Current teams consist of Kid Only, Parent-Kid and Adult teams.

“We want to give the great people of Arkansas the ability to do something truly amazing and highlight their ingenuity and drive” Davis said. “Brad and I both watched the original Battle Bot TV show and now many years later we have the ability to actually make it happen so we said ‘why not?’. We want Robot wARs to show the rest of the world how great the people of Arkansas are and when one of our teams wins Battle Bots they will certainly know.”

Robot wARs is currently seeking teams to start forming across the state and officially register at www.robotwarsofAR.com. Official rules and guidelines are listed on the site and all are encouraged to get involved. Follow them on Twitter @robotwarsofar.
