Beginning Watercolor Class at the Fayetteville Underground

A fun beginners’ watercolor class for adults will be taught at the Underground art gallery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  This class will be a joint effort between the Fayetteville Underground and the Artists of Northwest Arkansas (ANA).  The class will be open to adults interested in learning the basics of watercolor painting, including watercolor technique and ideas relating to the creation of artwork.

Registration will be taken at the Underground.  Space is limited so preregistration is advised. The cost is $75.00 for five lessons.  The classes will be Mondays, April 6th thru May 4th, from 9 AM – 11:45. Victor Parkerson (479-445-6442) and Laverne Nelson will be the instructors.  Basic materials will be provided.

Victor Parkerson and Laverne Nelson have both been painting watercolor for over ten years.  Victor Parkerson taught a young persons class and adult classes in Florida before moving to Fayetteville in 2008.  During 2013, Victor Parkerson taught a watercolor class at the Schmieding Senior Center, Springdale.  Lavern Nelson has been teaching watercolor at her studio in Fayetteville for a number of years, both adults and children.

About the Fayetteville Underground:
The mission of the Fayetteville Underground is to promote the visual arts in Northwest Arkansas by actively collaborating with the community, supporting area artists working to the highest standards, and encouraging education and public engagement in the arts. Underground volunteers manage the day-to-day business of the gallery and can donate work to temporarily exhibit or sell in the galleries. The Underground presents 12 exhibits per year. Each monthly exhibit opens concurrently with Fayetteville First Thursday on the Square. In addition, the Underground features numerous art-related classes and programs weekly as our nonprofit duty to support the artistic needs of the community. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am – 7pm and Sunday 12-5pm.
