Doug Cameron celebrates a Spontaneous Christmas with the Fort Smith Symphony

Yes, Christmas is here, and what better way than to celebrate that with The Fort Smith Symphony under the direction of Maestro John Jeter, and featuring the electric blue violin of Doug Cameron.  Cameron was here a while back performing with the symphony, and people are still talking about that performance.  So much so that when Doug completed his new Christmas CD, Spontaneous Christmas, Maestro Jeter invited him back to perform a Christmas program based on the CD.  Spontaneous Christmas rose to the #1 CD on jazz radio airplay list last year during the Christmas season.  The CD contains many unique versions of well-loved Christmas music, and also features Doug’s now eight-year-old son singing in his beautiful high soprano voice.  He will be joining the Fort Smith Symphony for the concert as well.  Doug will also be featuring many young string players from the Fort Smith area performing with the orchestra in a very unusual disco version of Bach’s famous children’s minuet.   “How could a Bach’s minuet be a disco?” you ask.  You’ll see at the concert!

Cameron is a recording artist/composer/arranger with 10 CD’s to his credit, and has been a staple on jazz radio throughout.  Many of Doug’s orchestrations will be featured on The Fort Smith Symphony Christmas program along with some otherfavorites from “The Nutcracker Suite” featuring the orchestra.  Pieces will include, Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring, The Christmas Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Little Drummer Boy, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and others, including a three movement Fantasy on Carol of the Bells!  “I’m so excited to be back with Maestro Jeter and The Fort Smith Symphony.  I remember the enthusiasm from the orchestra was truly palpable last time I was there.  I know that listeners will truly enjoy this unique Christmas Concert, but it is also my hope that this performance will touch hearts, and folks will walk away inspired and ready to celebrate the true spirit of Christmas!”
Tickets are very limited at this time.
