While researching story ideas for our executive sportsmen issue, we talked to a lot of people who said the same thing: “The only sport I play is golf. Everyone I know plays golf.”

That’s one reason DataRank co-founder Chuong Nguyen’s athletic outlet of choice caught our attention.

The startup executive said he is currently training to try out for next year’s “American Ninja Warrior,” a competitive obstacle course race show that airs on NBC. 

“The competition is pretty stiff and the courses themselves are pretty rigorous,” Nguyen said.

But, if all goes as planned, Nguyen will do well enough in the regional qualifiers next year and land a spot in the finals in Las Vegas.
