On September 24th the U.S. Marshals Museum will finally be breaking ground! To celebrate this event Fort Smith NHS staff and volunteers will be firing the park’s twelve pound Napoleon cannon. Dressed in Deputy Marshal attire, the program will include a talk about the perspective of the deputies who historically fired the cannon after it had been left at the fort following the Civil War. Come learn about a different take on artillery and celebrate the ground breaking of the U.S. Marshals Museum. The program is free to the public.

Fort Smith National Historic Site is located in downtown Fort Smith.  To access the free parking lot from Garrison Avenue, turn south on 4th Street and west on Garland Avenue.  For more information on the park, please call the park at 479-783-3961.
