Hobbs State Park Celebrates Legacy Week

All across the Natural State, the 52 state parks of Arkansas will be celebrating “Legacy Week”, August 27th through September 1st by offering programs and activities designed to foster appreciation for these very special places.

Hobbs State Park, just east of Rogers on Highway 12, will offer:

• A special program on the History of Hobbs State Park
• Showing of the 75th Anniversary film of Arkansas State Parks
• A Dutch oven workshop
• Daily public programming including hikes and nature-related activities
• Unusual Friends of Hobbs Speaker Series Program entitled, “The Passing of the Pigeon”. Two noted PhD’s from the University of Arkansas, Dr. Nancy Glover McCartney, curator of Zoology at the U of A Museum, and Dr. James Douglas from the Department of Biological Sciences, team up to present a very new and unique look at what happened to the passenger pigeon.  

Where:  Hobbs State Park visitor center on Hwy 12 just east of the Hwy 12/War Eagle Road intersection

When:   August 27th – September 1st

Cost:      (Dutch oven workshop only) Monday, September 1st – $40.00 includes workshop, lunch, and a Dutch oven 101 cookbook. OR $105.00 includes workshop, lunch, cookbook, and a Lodge 6-qt. Dutch oven.  The workshop is limited to 15 participants.  Registration and pre-payment required.
