Fort Smith region to host TRI for Kids, Boots & Bling, and Tablescapes

The coming weeks will offer something for everyone including a TRI for Kids Triathalon, Guitar-B-Que for music lovers, a little Boots & Bling, and more.

TRI for Kids Triathlon
Adults aren't the only ones who can complete triathlons. Kids will get their chance to compete as The Gregory Kistler Center hosts the 8th annual TRI for Kids Triathlon at Marvin Altman Fitness Center on Aug. 30.

Open to children up to age 14, the event will include swimming, biking, and running components. It will begin at 7 a.m. at the fitness center pool, followed by the biking and running competitions on Lexington Avenue.

Registration is $35 and must be completed by Aug. 22. Each racer must provide a bicycle and an approved helmet. For more information, call 441-5469.

Guitar-B-Que
Music lovers are invited out to Greenwood for a night of great music and food at Guitar-B-Que on Sept. 4.

Singer and songwriters Jason and Jill Wagoner will bring together area musicians to play and sing unrehearsed music for a live audience. The jam session is open to novice and experienced vocalists and musicians of all genres, including country, rock, gospel, folk, and jazz.

Guitar-B-Que will be held at the Ed Wilkinson Pavilion in Greenwood's Bell Park. Admission to the event is free. Concessions from Scooter's Barbeque will be available.

Boots & Bling
Cowboy boots and big bling will be what's trending on Sept. 5 as the Crisis Intervention Center in Fort Smith throws its second annual Boots & Bling Ball. Hosted at the Fort Smith Convention Center, the evening will include food, drinks, live music and a silent auction.

Festivities will get underway at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Brandon Butler Band.

Individual tickets are $50, with reserved tables of eight available for $400. Admission price includes two drink tickets. Tickets are available at Honda Power Sports of Fort Smith and at the Girl Next Door Resale Shop located at 415 Lexington Avenue.

Phyllis Wheatley Club 15th Annual Tablescapes
Beautiful centerpieces and beautiful fashions will set the stage for the Phyllis Wheatley Club's 15th annual Tablescapes on Sept. 6.

Hosted at the St. Boniface Fellowship Center in Fort Smith, the luncheon will start at 11 a.m. and include a salad buffet and beverage. Tables will be adorned with unique centerpieces and decor. Local models will showcase the latest trends from area shops and boutiques. Guests will also have the chance to win in the silent auction and door prize drawing.

Admission to the event is $20. All proceeds will benefit The Phyllis Wheatley Club, one of the oldest women's civic and social organizations in Fort Smith.
