Van Buren-based trucking and logistics company USA Truck Inc. said Thursday that Cliff Beckham, its executive vice president and chief financial officer, is resigning from the firm, effective Sept. 30.

In a news release, the company said Beckham is leaving to “pursue new career opportunities.”

A search for a new CFO is under way. If a replacement has not been hired before Beckham’s departure, the board will appoint an interim CFO, according to the release.

Beckham served as CFO previously from 2002 to 2007, and was the company’s president and CEO from 2007 until 2013.

Beckham joined the company in 1994 as a staff accountant.

“On behalf of the board of directors and the entire company, I want to thank Cliff for his invaluable contributions over 20 years of service to USA Truck,” USA Truck Chairman Robert A. Peiser said in a prepared statement. “Since returning to his previous role as chief financial officer in February 2013 after serving as chief executive officer for nearly six years, Cliff continued to demonstrate singular dedication and tireless efforts to implementing the company’s turnaround plan. All of us admire him for his integrity and selfless commitment to USA Truck, and wish him the best as he begins a new phase of his career.”

Last week the company announced its first quarterly profit in three years.
