A Fayetteville small-business owner is traveling to Washington, D.C., later this month to participate in a legislative event.

Carolyn Crook, founder and owner of Pack Rat Outdoor Center, will be in the capital July 29-30 to participate in the Retail Advocates Summit, the National Retail Federation’s legislative fly-in event that provides participants with an inside look at the political process.

Crook will join more than 150 small business owners, entrepreneurs and community retailers for education sessions, networking and advocacy activities on the retail industry’s top public policy priorities.

Crook has also been nominated for recognition as America’s Retail Champion, a new NRF program created to recognize advocates of retail and small business.

Crook and her husband, Scott, founded Pack Rat in 1973. The 15,000-SF outdoor sporting goods store is at 209 W. Sunbridge Drive.
