Cong. Cotton Delivers GOP Weekly Address
Cong. Tom Cotton (R), challenger to incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor, is this week’s featured GOP national spokesman in the party’s weekly address.
Cotton spends the three-and-a-half minute high-profile platform to rail on Pres. Obama and his policies during his Presidency. While Cotton never mentions Pryor by name, you can easily see the set-up for how Cotton will transfer these anti-Obama arguments to Pryor’s previous votes, especially on the Affordable Care Act.
He does reference that Obamacare is not “an amazing success story,” a quote attributed to Pryor from last year when he noted that the federal health care law had helped a local hospital.
Calling the President’s signature legislation “fundamentally flawed,” Cotton says Republicans are committed to undoing the health care plan and “repairing the damage” from the President’s other policies, but it stops short of any specifics.
“Arkansans, like most Americans, have had their grit tested over the last several years through a financial collapse, recession, and a stagnant, jobless recovery. Barack Obama’s policies aren’t solving these problems — they’re causing the problem,” Cotton said.

President Obama uses this week’s Presidential address to advocate for an increase in the minimum wage. Later Saturday (Feb. 22), Sen. Pryor will endorse a state minimum wage initiative that seeks to raise Arkansas’ minimum wage to $8.25 an hour.
