Chick-fil-A Tops Fayetteville Restaurants in FY2013
The Chick-fil-A restaurant on North College Avenue in Fayetteville produced more revenue in fiscal year 2013 than any other restaurant in the city, according to data provided by the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotions Commission.
The restaurant in the Northwest Village Shopping Center totaled $4.26 million in sales from Dec. 1, 2012, through Nov. 30, 2013. That total reflects a slight increase (4.16 percent) from the previous fiscal year.
The Chick-fil-A location at the corner of Razorback Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard — across the street from the University of Arkansas — was also a popular destination. It ranked No. 2 in FY2013 revenue, with $3.68 million. That total reflects an increase of 6.98 percent from the previous fiscal year.
In fact, of the top 10 restaurants on the list compiled by the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, the Chick-fil-A restaurants were the only two to show an increase in year-over-year revenue.
The Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, located on North Mall Avenue, was essentially the same the last two years in terms of revenue, taking in $3.60 million in FY2013, to rank No. 3.
Golden Corral, with $2.94 million in revenue, ranked No. 4, followed by Shogun Japanese Steak & Sushi ($2.84 million) and Red Lobster ($2.80 million).
McDonald’s locations on Joyce Boulevard and Wedington Drive took two of the next three spots, with $2.69 million and $2.46 million, respectively.
Logan’s Roadhouse ranked No. 8 with $2.57 million and Catfish Hole No. 3 on Wedington Drive rounded out the list with $2.44 million.
Chartwells Dining, the UA cafeteria, totaled $5.56 million in revenue but was intentionally excluded from the top 10 list.
Also excluded were Penguin Ed’s Barbeque ($3.11 million) and Rick’s Bakery ($2.52 million). Penguin Ed’s combines revenues from its three locations. Rick’s Bakery is primarily a bakery and not a restaurant.
Fayetteville’s top 10 restaurants combined to produce $30.28 million in revenue in fiscal year 2013. The A&P Commission collects a 1 percent tax on prepared foods and non-alcoholic beverages.
