Clayton Scott, owner of a Fayetteville food truck just off College Avenue specializing in chicken, is planning to expand into a permanent location later this year.

Scott, who operates the Best Frickin Chicken out of an 8-by-24-foot Interstate trailer at 3160 N. Market Ave., is raising money to open a location at a permanent building on West Spring Street, according to a report from local CBS affiliate KFSM-TV, Channel 5.

Scott has raised just $1,000, but state officials have already granted a liquor license to the new location, according to Alcohol Beverage Control documents.

“I don’t care what I have to do,” Scott told KFSM-TV.  “I will take money out of my IRA or sell everything I have. I will be in a brick and mortar the second week in March.”

Scott said he plans to keep the food truck even when the brick-and-mortar location opens.

Scott, Fayetteville’s former poet laureate, opened the food truck in April.
