Accounting Ervin
In case you haven’t heard, accounting heavyweight John Ervin has returned to his roots — self-employment. Emerging from his position as a tax partner at Frost PLLC, Ervin is now head of Ervin CFO Services, a firm that offers short- and long-term consulting and financial oversight to small- and medium-sized businesses.
“I saw a need in the marketplace to help these companies go to another level,” he said.
He will remain with Frost on a part-time basis until April, and after that, will work with Frost on a contract basis. Ervin and Frost have entered into a non-compete clause.
Ervin’s first big account? Lew Thompson Trucking of Huntsville. Ervin is also working with a logistics company, a liquor store and a construction company. Ervin said he’d like to flesh out his client list to as many as 30. He has opened an office at 4257 Gable Dr. in Fayetteville.
Remember that for 31 years Ervin owned his own firm, Ervin and Company CPAs, and did not merge with Frost until 2009.
Now at age 61, Ervin said he feels good and that he’s ready to turn a new page in his accounting career.
“I don’t want to quit,” he said. “I’m having fun doing this.”
