Wrecker Service

There’s a new towing company contracting with the Fayetteville Police Department, and it begins its five-year deal with the city on Dec. 8.

Take it from Whispers, that’s a good thing. NWA Towing and Recovery of Rogers should be welcomed with open arms, and for their part NWA Towing is glad to have the work. In preparation for the new contract, NWA Towing has purchased three more trucks, hired five new employees and is in the process of setting up an impound lot in Fayetteville.

“We’re ready to take on the challenge,” said Mandy Manning, who with her husband, Brent Manning, owns and operates the company.

The tow truck service the Mannings are replacing, Greenland Wrecker, had an owner, James Clifton Cox, who just couldn’t stay out of jail. His most recent run-in with the law, in October, had something to do with contempt of court on a handful of drug charges.

Back in January, when Cox was arrested for drugs as well as kidnapping and terroristic threatening, Fayetteville Police Chief Greg Tabor brushed off the red flags and opted to keep Cox, saying he was doing a good job. Really?

Whispers is glad Tabor finally changed his mind.
